Success has come to the partnership of Argyll & Bute Council and the Friends of Hermitage Park Association in the form of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of nearly £170,000 for the first stage in a £2million plus package. The partnership came about as a result of an initiative by the Friends of Hermitage Park to see this once valued part of the Helensburgh landscape restored to its former glory. With the grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund the initiative will be turned into a detailed blueprint for the future Hermitage Park. The blueprint will not only bring the park up to date but will also take into account the wishes of the town’s people whilst maintaining the valuable heritage locked away in many of its parts. The accepted blueprint will enable funds to be approved for the actual work which should be complete in 2016.
