Car-share scheme for Islay and Jura

Whisky Island Sustainability Project is happy to announce the launch of the new Islay and Jura Liftshare Website – Islayandjura.liftshare.com.  This free-to-use website, which is designed to cut travel costs as well as local pollution, enables its members to share lifts across Islay and Jura.

We all share cars regularly, with our friends and family, without thinking about it. However there are often times when a driver has empty seats in the car simply because they don’t know of anyone who needs a lift.

Islay and Jura Liftshare will allow drivers and passengers to search for matches for different types of journeys including; regular (e.g. commutes to work), occasional (e.g. trips to the shop) or for one off trips (e.g. events).  The site can also be used for both residents and visitors to match up with people using the Cal Mac ferry service, which will enable car sharing to destinations both on and off the Islands.

Why not visit Islayandjura.liftshare.com and register today or even just try out the online Savings Calculator to find out how much you could save by joining.  Don’t have a computer?  If you contact WISP (details below) I would be happy to search the site on your behalf and try and find a match.

Any questions, thoughts and suggestions on this new venture are very welcome, please contact Laura Anderson on 01496 810 767, energy@mactaggartleisurecentre.co.uk or pop into my office in the Howatt Room at Mactaggart Leisure Centre for a chat.
