Lochgilphead After School Club (LASC) is based at Lochgilphead Community Education Centre, Manse Brae. It provides after school care between 3.15pm -5.45pm for up to 26 children of primary school age during term time. Children are collected from Lochgilphead Primary School and walked down to the Community Centre where they are given a light nutritious snack before taking part in a planned programme of play.
During the school holidays LASC provides a holiday club between 8.45am-5.15pm for primary aged children. The holiday club is dependent on demand but typically runs every day for 2 or 3 weeks during the summer holidays, for 1 week during the October holiday and for 1 week during the Easter holiday. Children are offered breakfast upon arrival and can then participate in a wider range of activities and outings to places of interest.
Some activities the children have enjoyed this year include: a weekly sports session at Mid Argyll Sports Centre, baking, board games, table football, craft activities, celebrating different cultural activities, outdoor play, computer games and supervised internet access for research and projects.
LASC is registered with the Care Inspectorate and is checked regularly to ensure national standards are met.
