Welcome to the Islay Family History Society Web Pages
The Society
Islay Family History Society was formed in 1991 to encourage and assist research into Islay local and family history and to undertake the collection and exchange of information and material relating to Islay.
The Society is a registered charity, has no paid employees and is run entirely by volunteers who give their time and goodwill to help others interested in researching their family history.
Members receive enquuiries from around the world, welcome contact with anyone interested in Islay Family History and look forward to hearing from you.
Visit Us
You will be warmly welcomed at our new premises in Islay House Square during our open hours over the Summer months. From May to September, volunteers man the office on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 14.00 to 16.00 and on Saturday mornings from 10.00 to 12.00. Outwith these hours, particularly for those bold enough to brave the vagaries of Islay weather in Winter, we will do our best to meet up with visitors at the Office. Please write or email well in advance of your visit if you wish to set up such an arrangement.
