Mid Argyll Community Pool (MACPool) is a social enterprise, owned and operated by Mid Argyll Community Enterprise Ltd (MACEL), and is a Registered Charity in Scotland. The swimming pool opened in 1996 after extensive fundraising for many years by the local community, spearheaded by John MacLean. The pool attracts between 30,000 – 40,000 users each year within a small catchment area of around 9000 residents. Without MACPool, users would have to travel return trip distances of between 80-100 miles to the nearest alternative swimming pools in Oban, Campbletown or Dunoon.
