The Messy Church training day was run by Paul Beautyman and Jessica Reynolds, the Presbytery Youth Advisors. The idea of Messy church has been running for at least a decade and is a way or engaging with families in the wider community.</p>
<p>Messy Church usually runs once a month for an evening during the week.</p>
<p>A theme is chosen &#8211; today&#8217;s was &#8211; Jesus, the light of the world. Crafts are prepared to match the theme, games are decided and a talk is chosen.</p>
<p>The evening includes:</p>
<div id="attachment_468" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1028.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-468" title="Making crafts" src="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1028-300x204.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="204" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">making crafts</p></div>
<div id="attachment_470" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1029.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-470 " title="Making paper lanters" src="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1029-300x252.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="252" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lanterns</p></div>
<div id="attachment_467" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1027.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-467 " title="Making stained glass windows from coloured card and tissue paper" src="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1027-300x236.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="236" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Men can play too!</p></div>
<p style="text-align: center;">Games came next &#8211; and then we had food</p>
<div id="attachment_471" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1032.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-471 " title="Eating lunch" src="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1032-300x176.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="176" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">We all brought packed lunches and had plenty of time to chat</p></div>
<div id="attachment_473" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1037.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-473 " title="Jessica talking" src="http://argyllcommunities.org/nknapdalecofs/files/2011/09/DSCF1037-300x227.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="227" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Jessica Reynolds</p></div>
<p>After lunch we listened to what Paul and Jessica had to say and asked questions. There were plenty of resources to look at. The two books, &#8220;Messy Church&#8221; and &#8220;Messy Church 2&#8243; each contain enough themes for at least a year. Each theme describes the crafts to do, materials needed, food suggestions, games and a ready prepared talk.  More resources are also available on the <a href="http://www.messychurch.org.uk" target="_blank">Messy Church Website</a>. We all left with new ideas for our groups and inspiration to start a group of our own. If you are interested in helping to start a Messy church group in North Knapdale or Glassary, Kilmartin and Ford please get in touch with Jenni at the manse 606926.</p>
