What is a Community Action Plan
Community Action Plan is a snapshot of a community. It reflects the community’s aspirations, as well as setting actions for how those aspirations can be met. It is developed by the local community for the local community
Benefits of a Community Action Plan
1. Finding out what the wider community thinks – gives clear evidence for need and desire for projects
2. Creating a sense of community spirit – gets more people involved in thinking about the future of a community and then becoming involved in making it happen
3. Helps shift from being reactive to proactive
4. Helps community plan and organise to become a partner in its own development – “can’t always rely on them to do it for us”
5. Discovering previously unknown local talents and skills
6. Achieving tangible outcomes
7. Moving the “talking shop” into action
8. Forming new partnerships
9. Bringing in new funding
